The first thing you have to do in Tally that you have to create your company. After creation of company you can start working with Accounts.
1. Click on TALLY Icon
2. the best way to create a company, you need to go to Gateway of Tally, Press Alt F3 to
get Company info screen. if your are not
at Gateway of Tally then you can use the
shortcut key, Find the COMPANY INFO
option in Button Bar
3. Choose CREATE COMPANY option to create your company. You will get a Simple Form to fill with your Company's Details.
DIRECTORY: it shows the location where Tally stores your Data. You will see C:\Tally\Data
As a beginner I'll not suggest you to change it, However if You know little bit Tally then You can Make a folder in Specific Drive and their you can store your Tally Company Data.
As we all know that computer operating system software WINDOWS is installed in C DRIVE and due to virus or any other problem your operating System gets corrupt and then you can not access Tally Data. It is always a good Idea to change the directory.
NAME: Here you have to enter your Company's Name.
MAILING NAME: it is different then NAME. Mailing name displays everywhere, on all the Reports, Printouts of data. the Name of the company is only comes in
SELECT COMPANY option to open the company. You can use same name in both places.
